Odaiba Trip

Hello All.

How are you doing? I am fine. Lots of development during these days which is the main reason of my absence on the blog part. The most important being that come July 11th, I shall be moving base to good old India. That will be a wonderful thing for me as it will allow me to concentrate on creating the base for moving up in the photography stuff. More on that later as all things are a bit vague currently. I need to sort those things up.

In the midst of making my itinerary of moving back, getting things sorted out and stuff like that, I did manage to visit Odaiba over here. It is a manmade island on the Tokyo Bay famous for its futuristic architecture.

It was a nice day trip with the family and friends with only thing missed is the performance by Asimo, the robot from Honda. It was under maintenance so we just managed to see it standing and doing nothing.

However, we did manage to visit the Terminator Exhibition at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) and got up, close and personal with a few life size Terminator. Though most the exhibits had Japanese description, being an ardent fan of the franchise, it was a no-brainer.

In all, fun day out. Now back to getting a few last moment things done both in the day job and in the personal front.

More later….TC

First an apology for not writing the review on the Internet forums as mentioned in my earlier posts.

I am just too preoccupied with the new release from Pentax that I guess I am in no position to write anything coherent. So had to postpone it till next week. I apologize again.

Well, I know it is said to death that a gear does not makes a good photograph and I totally agree to that. It is always the photographer which makes a picture and a camera is just a tool to achieve it. But honestly, this time I am giving in to the hysteria.

If the specs of this new camera (supposedly Pentax K-7) is true, then it will be hard for me to resist the temptation to upgrade. I am happy with my Pentax K10D which has served me well and I guess will do for more than an year from now. But I was looking for a second body as a back up and K20D was not worth the extra money IMO. So was pretty much content with what I have when all of a sudden this thing came up.

And the specs (still unconfirmed) has got me salivating….literally.

Okie not that much, but it does have a few features which I can really use.
First the ISO range. If it does have a range of 50 – 6400 and if it performs well, then I am sold. With 14MP and ISO 50, landscape photography is an area where I can see myself using this camera. Also during those travel days, no more noisy photos at night.

Second if it has an electronic shutter and if my understanding is right, then I can do some serious stuff with manual flash at around 1/800.

Third if it does have 1/8000 as a shutter speed, then well no more stopping down on bright days

Fourth and importantly if the viewfinder gives me 100% then no more guessing what’s there on my left and hence no more cropping.

Fifth and nice to have HD quality video from a SLR. Can already think of some viral stuff I can get into for promoting my business like say Chase Jarvis (geeze! did I say that)

Okie. I know it is a different thing on being paper and performing on location, so I guess I also need to wait for the review and test results. But honestly, if it is near 80% of what I think it will be, I am into some heavy savings from tomorrow.

And as the teaser in Pentax Site says….yeah the wait does seem like forever!
